How I Landed A $50K Ghostwriting Client On LinkedIn With One DM

--

When it comes to the best social media platform for ghostwriters, LinkedIn would be number one. Many ghostwriters under estimate LinkedIn because it’s filled with recruiters, job boards, ads, former colleagues, and intimidating content creators. It can be a bit overwhelming for a beginner ghostwriter.

In 2022, I was scratching my head and trying to figure out how I would land my next ghostwriting project. I’d gone through a tragedy and my finances were not in the best shape. I needed a client desperately.

The big misconception about LinkedIn is the connection request is only for people you know in real life. Perhaps that was the original intention when it was created. However, I use the connection request to expand my network constantly online. Many ghostwriters are afraid to submit connection request to potential clients. I’ve been there a time or two. You send the request and crickets. Or your request is declined.

I decided to take some bold steps and send out a few connection requests. This time, the request was for publishers. As a ghostwriter, I’d never worked exclusively with a publishing company to ghostwrite books. It may seem like an obvious choice, but for a time I was completely new to ghostwriting. Want to know how I landed a client by sending a DM on LinkedIn?
